A full pro league system would be dope if steve wanted to add it, but gotta remember that's a huge time commitment and imo the game is awesome as is.
The point of my original suggestion was more just to have more players go pro and have careers to follow post-college.

Very true, it might take a whole lot of time and I realize that. Thats why my suggestion is just a dream of something that would be nice if it happened.

Regardless, I'm happy with the game the way it is now, even with the pro system the way it is because that is something that I rarely if ever look at. But you did make a good suggestion. Cheers.

What international leagues and/or teams would you recommend? As an American, it's very hard for me to understand how European basketball works.

I have seen some of the NBA Africa games, but they are not post-college players.

EuroLeague would be the de facto league at the tier below the NBA.

Same here as far as a not-so-comprehensive understanding of international basketball, but I'll share what I've been told from a former pro player:

There are some strong, player-led teams there. It depends which era of European basketball you're talking about. Okay, for example. We had Real Madrid playing in two competitions. Domestic only and EuroLeague. EuroLeague has licensing processes, playoff implications for future league participation. Sometimes it was an open league, sometimes not.

Real Madrid played half of their total games in the domestic league, half in the EuroLeague.

For nine years or so give or take, EuroLeague has been in a league format.

EuroLeague does not have teams exclusively from Europe. Israel, and talks in place for Dubai to have teams. If you will, from West Asia, Turkey has teams as well in EuroLeague.

I say if Steve is willing to extend the time, just create a parallel pro league, much like Blackbeard suggested, with the first 1 or 2 divisions being NBA (actually, it would probably be better to have the first league be an NBA league with subsequent divisions being G Leagues or some other form of minor league such as the old CBA used to be). As I said before, Steve already has the basic intertwinements in place by having a link to the NBA Draft, pro players, and so on. It would involve creating an actual pro league. Hope this makes sense to all, and to you Steve, we all appreciate this game so much! It's lots of fun. The pro connection would just add enhancements to it!

I think they are talking about adding another league to the already existing pro set up Baller, not my suggestion, which would be way more development.

Regardless, whether it is my suggestion or the addition of professional leagues to the existing pro league that is being used now. My suggestion is this. Why does it have to be patterned after realistic team names and real leagues?

Why not have the set up be just like the college side of Hardwood.

Just think up some names of leagues, just call it Pro league #1, then under that have Pro league #2 - with 2 leagues, conferences or whatever.

Then under that have Pro league #3 and that will have 4 conferences and on and on just like the college set up.

Whether my idea or just the addition of another professional league create fantasy named teams and I say that because as far as I know, all of the pro teams and the college team names (as well) have to be trade marked. And I'm kind of surprised that there hasn't been a concern about the college team trade marks because I think the actual team names and logos are being used. Surprised that hasn't been questioned before, maybe because the game was rather small and can probably still be considered to be under the radar so to speak.

After all the Big East, the Big 10 and on and on are not being used and thats probably a good thing....

Go fantasy and don't worry about trying to figure out the set up of the leagues and the team names, no worries either.

We see how you moving, Blackbeard. You're entitled to your concern.

Whoever and wherever the attorneys out there that enjoy Hardwood may be ;), they may or may not have told the community that the webmaster's decision to add logos to this browser based game falls both well within and well under the auspice of informational use.

(I didn't like Purdue's logo being added, but that feeling has somewhat subsided over time.)

I remain confident that within a game where no RMTing exists, the webmaster knows what he's doing, and myself and others enjoy the graphics that have been added to the game.

If ever there was a time to dismiss and ignore legal advice or concerns though, it would be from the involvement of an infamous English pirate. :)

My understanding of the Euro-league is that each country has there own domestic league and top teams from each compete in the Euro League. My idea would be either add a few couple domestic leagues (Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey, france for example) or for less teams, maybe add one big euro league, with teams like Real Madrid, Fenerbace, etc. Like Blackbeard said it doesn't necessarily have to mimic reality either, any extra leagues would be cool.

Yeah the Euro basketball leagues are like the soccer leagues - they have national leagues and then a cross-Europe 'super league' that teams qualify for. But if you did a handful of national/regional leagues like TWolvesfan suggested (France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Adriatic, Spain) and then the Russian and Chinese leagues, maybe Brazil and the African league, with like 12 teams each, that's 120 extra pro teams and it mirrors the global scope of the recruiting for the college game here. Be cool if like a recruit from China had a good college career but couldn't get in the NBA, you could still follow him as he goes home and wins a Chinese league championship for the Nanjing Monkey Kings. Just an idea, would be some work getting it set up but yeah it doesn't need to *exactly* follow the real leagues' structure or anything, just a setup for more of the players on here to live their electronic pro dreams.

+1 to the idea of adding either an international league or a G-league to supplement the current pro league. In my mind this would be with the UDFA level players and increases the number of professional roster spots so that we can follow the post-graduate journeys of more alumni.

I would also like to add that a more robust pro league should be implemented before adding more leagues. It would be awesome if the 30 pro teams had the same bot management that un-managed college teams do (depth charts, game tactics, etc.) and if the games could be published to view box scores. I know some people want to actually manage the pro teams, but I would really appreciate it just being a bit more detailed to follow as a spectator.
