The Lumberjacks are off to a good start of the 2028 season with 6 victories only 1 defeat. Number 6 win coming under new President, Coach Key. Coach Key a native of Arizona is bringing pride, motor, and FIGHT to the already Axing NAU. Coach said, " I am grateful for my first President of Basketball position for Northern Arizona University. Always been a dream of mine to in this position in my home state. With the help of our proven roster, coaches. fans and alumni. Our program will be held to great standards that I know we can meet and exceed. GO JACKS!" With expectations set already to be worked towards you can count that Coach Key and NAU will be working to win.

Apr 05 2021: K.J. Paulsen makes the All League team - by crackit on September 24th, 2021

With 12 conference POTG performances this seasons (15 in all) Center K.J. Paulsen made the All League team. He ranked highly in points scored (20.6) and Field Goal percentage (60.3).

Congratulations to shooting guard Sammy Cason on making the All League team for the second time having also made it in his junior year.

Sammy was a high-scoring outside shooter in what can best be described as an average team. He ranks high on the team's all-time in the following categories:
* #1 for points at 2232
* #1 for three-pointers at 402
* #1 3ppg at 2.5
* #2 ppg at 14.0
* #3 for field goals at 769
* #4 free throws % 75.8
* #5 for steals with 164 and
* #5 with 19 POTG

He is expected to go straight into our hall of fame.

A lot like 2018 the Lumberjacks eventually climbed to safety having resided in a relegation position for most of the season.

It wasn't without some notable performances:

Senior Sammy Cason made the All League team, again
He also ranked #1 with 4.3 3ppg and #2 with 22.1 ppg
Senior Jaime Rodriguez ranked #5 with 11.1 rpg and #8= with 1.67 bpg
Senior Jon Owens ranked #1 with 9.4 apg and #9 with 1.81 spg; we'll forget about the turnovers Jon

Juniors Phil Suzuki (FT%) and Bobby Pfeiffer (3p%), plus Sophomore K.J. Paulsen (fg%) also featured on the ranking list. You have to wonder how we didn't finish higher!

Here's looking forward to scraping by in 2020.

Aug 30 2018: 2018 Season - not as bad as it might have been - by crackit on April 8th, 2021

Well we avoided relegation on points difference and ended the season with a Invitational tournament win over LeTourneau 108-107 in overtime.

Sammy Cason made the all-conference team as a junior whilst Lorenzo Ortiz and Jaime Rodriguez made the Conference Leaders. We say goodbye and offer thanks to Lorenzo and to Patrick Byrd who both graduated this year. Lorenzo will surely be inducted to the Hall of Fame whilst Patrick as a walk-on probably had to contribute more than expected off the bench in his time here. We wish them both every success.
