Anteaters Run out of Ants to Eat, Bid Adieu to A(nt)dersson -
by Rcourville0 on April 3rd, 2025
The Anteaters 2044 season came to a crashing halt Saturday night, when they were overmatched by an East Central team that finished near the mountaintop in I.1. After an improbable conference tournament championship run that saw them steal a National Tournament bid, hierarchy held true as the apex predator remained kingdom of the jungle.
Redshirt senior Max A(nt)dersson laced em up for the final time Saturday, capping off a career that can only be defined as legANTary. Max finishes his career holding numerous program records making him the most decorated player of all time. A short list of his most prominent program antcolades:
1st points scored - 3015 (only player to surpass 3000)
1st 3 pointers - 408
2nd steals - 283
Max won conference freshman of the year in 2040, and was 3X all conference in his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. We gave Max a chance to reflect on his time as an Anteater:
Max - "When I first was being recruited by UCI, I was like.... where the hell is Irvine and isn't UC a disease? The coaches did a good job recruiting me on the game plan and fit in their scheme but it was President RCourville who really closed the deal. The team was amidst an 8-33 season, they were awful. I told Courville "Y'all are garbage!" hoping he would stop recruiting me. But then he said "Max....come be my garbage" and told me I could shoot whenever I wanted. I toured the campus, there was sunshine, food, and hot asian chicks everywhere. They had a sorority girl show me how to sign my LOI, no regrets."
Reporter - "Max did you want to talk about the basketball you guys played at all?"
Max - "Oh yeah, we won a lot! From D4 all the way to the D1 tournament. I had a lot of fun with the guys. I cant wait for the draft! Hopefully I get drafted and given an opportunity."
