Harrisonburg, VA- Fresh off a loss to Eastern Mennonite, Coach Dave "The Computer" Caputo was in no mood to discuss the rumors surrounding the potential Indiana and Ohio basketball challenge that could be starting in 2054. The usual emotionless, almost animatronic coach was hot under the collar during this press scrum.

"What do you want me to say" Caputo snapped.
"I'm not even originally from the Midwest, I'm from Texas. But having spent my entire professional career in Wisconsin let me say something now:

Look up Ohio in a dictionary, it will say this- 'the great land of nothing. Skibidi. One boring city in the north and one boring city in the south. Notable contribution to the world: Skyline chili; Grippos; the Wright brothers.'

That's it. That's all there is to say. If there's one thing we know for certain about Ohioans and their ilk, it's that those boys like their couches... if you know what I mean.

Mar 01 2053: Caputo Unmoved by Conference Title: "We Had the Most Wins" - by bhardin22 on August 10th, 2026

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Indiana State secured the regular-season conference championship in David "The Computer" Caputo's first season at the helm, prompting reporters to ask the first-year head coach how it felt to accomplish the feat.

Reporter: Coach, congratulations. You just won a conference championship in your first season. How does that feel?

Caputo: Good.

Reporter: Good?

Caputo: Better than losing it.

Reporter: Did you expect this when you took the job?

Caputo: Yes.

Reporter: You did?

Caputo: We had a plan.

Reporter: What's the plan now?

Caputo: Winning the tournament.

Reporter: But shouldn't you take a moment to appreciate what you've accomplished?

Caputo paused and thought for a moment, as if he were buffering.

Caputo: We can appreciate it after the season.

Reporter: President Bhardin22 said this is the first step toward restoring Indiana State basketball to national prominence. Do you agree?

Caputo: I agree it's the first step.

Reporter: What's the second?

Caputo: The second step would be next.

Reporter: You've been called "The Computer." Does winning a conference championship validate the nickname?

Caputo looked genuinely confused.

Caputo: Computers don't win championships.

Reporter: Don't they?

Caputo: Players do.

Reporter: Who deserves the most credit?

Caputo: The players.

Reporter: Anyone specifically?

Caputo: All of them.

Reporter: That's a very diplomatic answer.

Caputo: It's the answer.

A reporter asked whether Caputo had anything planned to celebrate.

Caputo: Some of our generous donors are treating us to Stables Steakhouse tonight.

Reporter: That's it?

Caputo: We won some basketball games.

Reporter: A championship.

Caputo: Regular season.

Caputo gathered his stack of analytics.

Reporter: Last question. What does this championship mean for Indiana State?

Caputo: It means we're pretty good... we should try to remain pretty good.

Then he left.

The entire press conference lasted six minutes and fourteen seconds.

Caputo's record improved to 17–5.

He did not mention this.


Dec 21 2052: Caputo Wins Second Game as Sycamores Cruise Past Carroll, 100–74 - by bhardin22 on July 21st, 2026

WAUKESHA, Wis. — David "The Computer" Caputo earned his second victory as Indiana State head coach Friday night as the Sycamores dismantled Carroll University, 100–74.

Indiana State shot the ball efficiently throughout the evening and never trailed after the opening minutes of the second half, pulling away behind a balanced offensive attack led by senior big Salomon Marquez, who was named Player of the Game after finishing with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Following the game, Caputo met with reporters for the first time as Indiana State's head coach.

Reporter: Coach, congratulations on your first road win. How does it feel?

Caputo: It counts as one.
(Long pause.)

Reporter: ...Could you elaborate?

Caputo: That was one game.

Reporter: Salomon Marquez was outstanding tonight. Twenty-four points, eight rebounds. What impressed you most?

Caputo: He scored when open. He rebounded when the ball missed. Those are two useful basketball skills.

Reporter: Was there a point where you felt the game was over?

Caputo: No.

Reporter: Really?

Caputo: The clock reached zero with Ithe Sycamores ahead by twenty-six. At that moment, I became reasonably confident.

Reporter: Your team scored 100 points. Is that the offensive identity you're hoping to build?

Caputo: The objective is to score more than the opponent. Tonight that happened by twenty-six. If we score forty-one and they score thirty-nine, I'll answer this question the same way.

Reporter: President Bhardin22 said he wants to return Indiana State to the days of Larry Bird. Do you embrace those expectations?

Caputo: Larry Bird has retired. He will not be playing for us.

(A reporter suppresses a laugh.)

Reporter: I meant the standard of the program.

Caputo: Standards are useful. Comparisons are distracting. Our next opponent does not care about Larry Bird.

Reporter: The fans have started calling you "The Computer." What do you think of the nickname?

Caputo: Computers crash. I'd prefer not to.

Reporter: Fair enough... Did anything surprise you tonight?

Caputo: No.

Reporter: Last one, Coach. What's the message to the team after a convincing win?

Caputo glanced down at the stat sheet for nearly ten seconds before answering.

Caputo: We shot below 70% from thr line.

We allowed eight offensive rebounds.

Those numbers are inefficient.

The bus leaves in eighteen minutes.

Meeting at 8:00 tomorrow.

Thank you.

Without another word, Caputo neatly stacked his stat sheets into perfect alignment, capped his pen, nodded once toward the room, and exited.

The press conference lasted just under four minutes.

No one was entirely sure if they'd learned anything, but everyone agreed on one thing:

The Computer had officially booted up.

President bhardin22 has accepted the President of Basketball Operations position at his alma mater, Indiana State University. As President bhardin22 was introduced and a reminition of the "Wabash Cannonball" was played by the school band, he got straight to the point, "For years I've had my eyes on this job. For years I've planned on bringing my beloved Sycamores back to relevance. The Hulman Center faithful have endured enough mediocre basketball. This isn't Sycamore football—this is basketball. Mediocrity isn't accepted here, and it shouldn't be.

"For too long, Indiana State students have drowned their sorrows at The Bally. No more. From this day forward, those drinks are for celebrating wins. We're bringing this program back to the heights of Larry Bird and Carl Nicks.

"To begin that mission, I'm announcing today that we've relieved Don Andersson of his duties. We thank him for his service and wish him well back in Washington. Our new head coach is longtime Wisconsin–Stout assistant David Caputo 'The Computer.'

"Roll Sycamores."

Then Caputo walks to the podium.

"Thank you, Mr. President.

"I've already watched 127 games from the past five Indiana State seasons. We've identified several habits we'd like to eliminate. Passing to the other team is one of them.

"Practice starts at 5:30 tomorrow morning.

"I appreciate the opportunity.

"Roll Sycamores."
