Aug 31 2023: 2023 - The Year for All Lamar Cardinals - by awoodard on January 14th, 2022

2023 was a great season for the Lamar Cardinals. This season saw the school record in wins and the first win in the National Tournament in school history. We talked to Jacob Richard, leading scorer for Lamar this season and V.7 All Conference Selection. "We're just getting started!" said Richard. Lamar won the conference tournament title over beloved rival La Verne only to be beat by that McCrary led squad in the Sweet 16. While losing all time assist leading senior Graham Richey, the Cardinals have incoming freshman Andrian Watson to fill that hole. The team's constant success will be good momentum for their first stab at Division 1. Lamar looks to be competitive with four returning starters, including RS SR Richard and RS JR Riley "Big Body" Bowen.

Apr 04 2022: 2022 Season - Not Exactly How We Meet Expectations - by awoodard on November 18th, 2021

The 2022 season for the Cardinals consisted of ups and downs. While our overall record was under .500, we pulled out a winning record in V.7 and will stay in the conference for the 2023 season. We loss our senior class highlighted by Kirk Rinaldi, one of President awoodard's first commits, along with Cody Lawrence and walk on Carson Ruby. We return three starters next season and will only have one senior on next year's squad. 2023 Season will turn back around for the Cardinals! #PeckEm

Dec 02 2021: 2022 Recruiting Class Finished - by awoodard on October 12th, 2021

Lamar has rounded out their recruiting class with 2 players who will be a focal point for years to come. Corey Woodworth (6'2 1/2 - SF) is the 2nd 5 star recruit to commit to Lamar in the school's history, the first since Ty Burns in 2001. Clay Forbes (6'10 1/2 - C) hopefully will fill a need for us in the paint. Coach Andrews had this to say about the two young men, "Woodworth has the potential to be the best player to come out of Lamar ever, we will do out best to keep him away from distractions. As for Forbes, he will need to get used to Riley Bowen pushing him around in practice to toughen him up, we can't wait for them to be on campus!"

Mar 06 2021: Class of 2021: All Hail Zion! - by awoodard on September 13th, 2021

The Lamar Cardinals are excited to celebrate the careers of Seniors Mel Hay, Hugh Anderson, and Zion Summers, who was one of the first recruits under President awoodard. These three have cemented themselves into the Lamar record books. Zion Summers has been an anchor for the Cardinals and will surely be missed. When asked about what will come next year, Coach Andrews was crying as he wishes President awoodard threw a redshirt on Summers. The Cardinals are hot with an 8 game winning streak going into the V.7 tournament.

Mar 14 2020: 2020 - Best Season in School History - by awoodard on July 25th, 2021

2020 has been the best season in Lamar's History finishing with the most record ever with 34-11. Lamar are the VI.14 Regular Season and Playoff Champions and earned their highest seed in the National Tournament with #5 but was upset by #12 seed Hampton in the first round. We will miss seniors Rashaad Reeves, Cordell Manning, and JD Davidson but are excited to go back up to LL.V. Looking to see if upcoming seniors Summers, Anderson, and Hay can lead Lamar in D2.
