Chestnut Hill Evens “Battle of the Hill” Series with 99-88 Victory

Chestnut Hill traveled west to take on rival Seton Hill in the second annual “Battle of the Hill,” and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Griffins came away with a 99-88 road victory over their Western PA counterparts.

Junior Grady Harvey led the way for Chestnut Hill, dropping a career-high 28 points to help the Griffins improve to 2-0 on the season.

“It’s a heated rivalry, and we’re happy to get our first win of the series,” said head coach Todd “The Bod” Collins. “Seton Hill is a good team, well-coached and well-managed, so we knew it wouldn’t be easy. Both teams lost some production from last year, so we’re happy to get this result early in the season and wish the Griffins luck the rest of the way.”

It was unclear whether Collins was wishing luck to his own Griffins or the other Griffins.

The victory gives Chestnut Hill a 2-0 start to the season, a welcome turnaround after the Griffins battled through a difficult finish to last year while ultimately graduating their top two scorers.

With a new-look roster and momentum from the early-season victory, Chestnut Hill will look to build on its fast start and establish itself as a competitive program at the DI level.

Griffs Close the Book on a Historic Season; Questions Loom Large

With the regular season now complete, Chestnut Hill has officially claimed the conference crown. It’s the program’s second VI.17 title, and third championship overall.

The Griffs tip their caps to their seniors, most notably the legendary Mr. Otis Farr, VI.17 Conference Player of the Year, 3x All-Conference selection, and radiant star who dragged this program from decades of darkness into the light.

But as the banners rise, so do the questions. And the senior departures leave massive shoes to fill.

Who will score?

Who will defend?

Can head coach Todd “The Bod” Collins keep this team afloat in DII, or will his recent success (and rumored relations with local coeds) derail the dynasty before it begins? Sources say Collins has been seen more in the student union than the film room.

Who will be the face of the team with so much production gone? Mosley and McDowell are most likely to take the crown in the short term, but it’s anyone’s guess which underclassmen seize the opportunity.

Only time will tell if the Griffs rise...or fade back into the shadows.
