Sep 02 2049: BREAKING: Clipboard Passed: Team Thanks Darnel Akins, Enters the Joseph Jones Era - by zpaul43 on January 9th, 2026

The Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers announced today that the franchise has decided to move in a new direction, parting ways with head coach Darnel Akins, 65, whose wisdom, experience, and ability to reference basketball trends from three decades ago will not be forgotten. The organization thanks Akins for his steady hand and veteran presence before officially handing the clipboard to 48-year-old Joseph Jones, who has been promoted to head coach for the first time in his career. Jones brings fresh ideas, renewed energy, and a playbook that does not require a VHS player, and the team is excited to see how his modern approach will translate as the franchise enters a bold new era.

Mar 12 2049: Wisconsin Parkside Rangers Shock Conference with Historic Tournament Run - by zpaul43 on December 31st, 2025

The Wisconsin Parkside Rangers have emerged as the surprise story of the conference tournament, knocking off two higher-seeded opponents as the No. 10 seed to continue their postseason run.

The Rangers opened tournament play with an impressive victory over the No. 7 seed William Jewell Cardinals before delivering a stunning upset of the No. 2 seed Central Methodist University Eagles.

“We knew coming in that nobody outside our locker room believed in us,” said head coach **Darnel Akins**. “But this group has stayed together all season, trusted the game plan, and played fearless basketball when it mattered most.”

Wisconsin Parkside’s backcourt led the charge, as guards **Tyson Stephens** and **Jerry Baxter** each scored over 20 points, applying constant pressure on opposing defenses.

“Coach Akins always tells us to stay aggressive and play our game,” said Stephens. “Once we got rolling, we felt like we could compete with anybody.”

In the win over Central Methodist, **center Keith Winslow** delivered a dominant performance, scoring **33 points and grabbing 7 rebounds** to control the paint and swing momentum in the Rangers’ favor.

“My teammates kept feeding me the ball and trusted me down low,” said Winslow. “This win was about toughness and belief. We weren’t backing down from anyone.”

Baxter echoed that confidence following the victory. “We respect every opponent, but we don’t fear anyone. Being a 10 seed just gave us extra motivation.”

Under the steady leadership of Coach Akins, the Rangers executed with discipline, energy, and composure beyond their seeding, proving that the conference tournament remains unpredictable.

“We’re not satisfied,” Akins added. “This team knows what it’s capable of, and we’re focused on the next challenge.”

Wisconsin Parkside now turns its attention to the **No. 3 seed Eastern Mennonite Royals**, whom the Rangers will face in the next round of the tournament. The matchup presents another opportunity for the Rangers to test themselves against one of the conference’s top teams.

“Eastern Mennonite is well-coached and very disciplined,” Akins said. “We’ll enjoy this win briefly, but our focus is already on preparing the right way.”

Stephens added, “At this point, we’re just playing with confidence and trust in each other. We’re excited for the next game and ready to compete.”

With momentum on their side, the Wisconsin Parkside Rangers continue their improbable run—proving they are far from finished.
