**New Era, New Energy: Broussard Lands First Recruits, Pioneers Picking Up Steam**
CANTON, OH — The first two commitments of the Coach Ernie Broussard era are officially in — and they’re setting the tone for a new chapter of Pioneer Basketball.
Leading the way is
Deion Mack, a towering 6’8.5” center from Bowling Green High School (KY), whose blend of length, physicality, and upside makes him a key piece for the future. Joining him is
Devon Strange, a 6’3.5” JUCO sophomore from Columbus State Community College, known for his elite shooting and scorer’s mentality on the wing.
Through 22 games under Broussard, the Pioneers sit at 6-16 (4-8 in conference) — but the story goes far deeper than the record. From defensive intensity to a reenergized locker room, progress is being made on and off the court. The foundation is being laid, and the vision is becoming clearer with every possession.
The signature moment of the season so far? A thrilling 85-84 victory over archrival Missouri S\&T, sending the visitors back across state lines stunned and silent. The win was a jolt of Pioneer pride — and a warning to the rest of the conference that Malone isn’t backing down from anyone.
With big-time talent incoming and belief rising, the Pioneers are heating up. The Broussard era is here — and it’s only getting louder.

A Power Shift Begins: Malone Pioneers Basketball Ignites New Era Under Fresh Leadership and Star Power
CANTON, OH — A new fire has been lit at Malone University. With a fresh vision and new ownership under Bailey Fultz, the Malone Pioneers men’s basketball program is entering a transformative era — one fueled by raw passion, renewed culture, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.
Leading the charge is first-time Head Coach Ernie Broussard, a rising name in the coaching ranks whose energy and hunger are contagious. Though new to the role, Broussard brings a bold mentality that aligns perfectly with the Pioneers’ commitment to doing things differently and building something bigger than the game.
“Coach Broussard represents exactly what this program is about — passion, belief, and fearless leadership,” said Fultz. “We’re not chasing tradition. We’re setting a new standard, and Ernie is the kind of leader who’s ready to grow with this team and build something that lasts.”
Anchoring that vision on the court is none other than star guard Joel Dennis, whose playmaking ability and leadership have already made him the face of Pioneer basketball. Dennis returns as the cornerstone of a roster that’s hungry to compete and ready to turn heads.
“Joel Dennis is the kind of player programs dream of building around,” said Broussard. “He leads with his heart, plays with grit, and sets the tone for everything we’re creating. He’s the standard.”
Off the court, the Pioneers are diving head-first into an aggressive national recruiting effort — targeting high-character, high-talent student-athletes who want to be part of a culture that demands excellence and rewards effort.
This is not about small steps. It’s about building a program that Malone University — and the country — can be proud of. And while other schools may cling to past glory, particularly old rivals like Randolph-Macon, the Pioneers are laser-focused on the future — one where we lead, and others follow.
The foundation has been set. The pieces are falling into place. Malone is rising — and we’re just getting started. Go Pioneers.
