Davenport University has hired Juan Alvarado as their new head coach. Alvarado has mastered the art of player development. He is also pretty good at coaching both defense and offense and is still a decent recruiter. Davenport president, Matt Kaiser, has made clear that they plan to build their program with great player development.

Davenport alumnus, Matt Kaiser, has taken over the men's basketball program. Matt graduated from Davenport in 2015 as an MBA with an emphasis in accounting. He has inherited a team that is currently ranked #5 in Division 3 and is looking to make a run in the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Matt intends to move Davenport up the ranks of college basketball to compete with their primary rival, Grand Valley State University. GVSU is currently ranked in the top 10 of Division 1, but Matt believes that Davenport can and will reach the level of Grand Valley. In a recent interview Matt said, "We have some catching up to do, but I believe that we will catch, and even surpass, Grand Valley's level of success."
