Jan 26 2008: The Night is Darkest Right Before the Dawn - by jbolger23 on September 6th, 2019

WashU Fans - it is long overdue for a media update to you all. As you know, we have released Marquis Hendrik of his coaching duties and decided to reach out to a coach that many of you are familiar with, Denny Satterfield. Although, Satterfield is new to the NCAA coaching world, he is a lifelong basketball coach and was most recently the head coach of the Harlem Globetrotters. This can be seen in his coaching attributes, as he is an excellent player development coach and really understands how to coach offense as well as recruit, but lacks the ability to coach the most basic defensive principles. With that said, WashU MBB is an analytical driven program and we focus on the right metrics, we want our guards to be able to handle the ball and shoot 3s and we want our posts to be able to stretch the defense, run the floor and rebound the ball. Satterfield has done a great job bringing in an outstanding group of players that fit the style of ball we are aiming for. It takes a lot of patience and a full commitment to correctly rebuild a program, and for your Bears, construction is nearly complete. Next year WashU will begin its jetpack fueld ascention to D1 and no opponent will be spared on the journey. The anticipation of the 2008-9 season is already buzzing around campus, and we hope you all enjoy the ride.

Mar 18 2004: A Great Season for Your WashU Bears! - by jbolger23 on February 9th, 2019

Well, it has been a couple days since the end of our 2004 season and it is time to wrap a bow on it. It was a great season of learning and building the program. We ended up 23-21 overall, and more importantly we ended the season on a 11-2 run after a new president was hired by the Bears. Our Star Guard, Jackson Hopper, is graduating on to bigger and better things next year with the prestigious WashU degree, but he has taught the younger players so much and his presence on the team team these past 4 years has been priceless. We are expecting "East" to take over the role of the go to guy next year as we strive to finish the season with 30+ wins, get promoted and qualify for the NCAA Tournament come March. These are lofty goals, but a historic program like Washington University Basketball with our loyal fans, hard working players and dedicated coaching staff, we feel this is well within our potential. 2004 you were an exciting year, but 2005 will be that much better!

Recruiting and player development calls, WashU basketball never sleeps!

Go WashU!!
