UPR Mayagüez Sweeps Manchester -
by Jennifer_Lopez on August 13th, 2019
UPR Mayagüez completed a home-and-home sweep of Manchester University Tuesday night with a 96-79 victory.
Elián Quiles broke his early season slump, scoring 24 points on 16 shots. When asked whether his transition to point guard had been frustrating, Quiles replied, “Was no mither. If I were to skirk all day, I’d be a daft ‘apeth, not proper mint at all. Gotta have the head up, mate.” Quiles was satisfied to end his scoring woes, remarking, “My play today...mad fer it, really. Bloody happy. Anyway, mi stomach thinks mi throat’s been cut. Gonna have a shower an’ get some scran.” When informed that his stellar performance was against Manchester University (Indiana) and not the University of Manchester (England), Quiles replied “Inglaterra, Indiana, son lo mismo.”
The Bulldogs play away at Minnesota-Crookston later this week.

UPR-Mayagüez Completes Road Trip Sweep -
by Jennifer_Lopez on April 25th, 2019
The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez has completed a successful four game Upper Midwest road trip, sandwiching victories against Wisconsin-Superior and Minnesota-Crookston between a sweep of St. John’s (MN). UPR-Mayagüez averaged a ten point margin of victory.
“I am pretty content with how my guys played,” said Head Coach Marshall Sands. “In front of four sellout crowds, the team remained calm and kept the turnovers low. If we continue to value the ball, we have a shot at promotion. We still have room to improve, however. Our free throw and three point percentages have been lower than I know they can be. Ultimately, however, my guys have really shown growth since the beginning of the season.”
