Mar 06 2049: What a Regular Season for the Garnet! - by mm2005 on December 29th, 2025

After a brutal non-conference schedule where Swarthmore went 2-8 and took some brutal losses, this team really turned it around going into league play. The Garnet finished 23-7 in conference play, up from 17-13 a season ago. This includes going 13-1 in their last 14 games. Guard standouts Tracy Hoy and Chandler Melton really packed a punch from the perimeter, with Hoy averaging about 20 points per game and Melton averaging 15 and 5 assists on over 43% from three. On the inside, transfer center George Cross poured in 13 points per game, as well as over 8 rebounds.

The Garnet are a massively improved team (especially on the defensive end) when compared to their Cinderella run to the conference semi-finals a year ago. Now, as the 4 seed, they believe they can win the conference tournament and send senior starters Tracy Hoy and Derrick Ford out on top.

Feb 02 2047: Update: We're Basketball Terrorists - by mm2005 on August 31st, 2025

I don't know if anyone here knows about the Kim Mulkey scowling meme on ESPN, but it's an appropriate reaction today. This season certainly has not gone as planned, as Swarthmore is beginning to set records for all the wrong reasons.

Let's start with Adrian Stallings. He had a huge double double in a loss to Mount Olive, with 14 points and... Ten. Turnovers. How do you turn it over 6 times in a half on fastbreaks where you're the only one going up the court? The HVAC system in arena probably just set a new career high in steals!

Latrelle McGhee also had a double double, and an actual one this time. However, he could not defend a cow out to pasture, which isn't great. In fact, NOBODY can defend a cow out to pasture, which is why the team gives up an average of 95 points per game on the season. I didn't even think that was possible.

We actually have a nice recruiting class coming in next year, hopefully they'll help us lol. Lord knows we need it. Except we have approximately one center on next year's roster, so he better be ready to play 39 minutes a game.

Oct 31 2046: Stallings Breakout Year Incoming? - by mm2005 on August 4th, 2025

Swarthmore junior guard Adrian Stallings has shown massive improvement since being added to the starting lineup this season. He's averaging 17 points a game, while he just averaged 4 a season ago. He also had a career high 23 in a win against North Texas, which was immediately surpassed by 24 in a blowout loss against Wake Forest. Stallings is also shooting about 35% from behind the arc in these first 5 games, which builds on his 30% effort last season that was on much fewer attempts. Time and conference play will tell if Adrian Stallings is a hidden gem, but he has shown quite a bit of promise at the start of this season.

Oct 11 2046: Harlan’s First Exhibition Games are… Interesting - by mm2005 on July 30th, 2025

Swarthmore struggles in their first exhibition under new Head Coach Floyd Harlan, going 1-2 and giving up nearly 100 PPG. The bright spots were Russo and Stallings. The former had 3 straight double doubles on great efficiency, while the latter went 3-3 from behind the arc and hit the game winner off the bench in a 99-96 thriller.

Mar 24 2046: New President, New Head Coach for the Garnet - by mm2005 on July 22nd, 2025

After a disappointing end to the season, which consisted in a 1-9 record over the team's last ten games, Swarthmore College has decided to completely revamp their program, bringing in mm2005 as president and hiring Floyd Harlan as the new head coach. An older, experienced head coach, Harlan seeks to primarily improve the Garnet's lackluster defense, implementing a fast-paced, hockey-like style of play with rapid substitutions and constant pressure on opposing teams.
