Oct 03 2047: Frodo's Journey Comes to an End - by bobcats50 on September 21st, 2025
Jarrod "Frodo" Corrigan, the undersized 3 star guard that became Bates' most prolific scorer has retired from the NBA at age 28, ending his extremely productive career.
He remains Bates record holder for points with 3,177, and after joining Dallas as an undrafted free agent, started 313 of 406 games for them earning 31 Game MVP awards and scoring 7,038 points.
Mar 11 2045: Arborist Basketball Program Yields Results - by bobcats50 on May 22nd, 2025
Despite a bottom 40% of DI TPI and 2 seasons of Vibes Based Recruiting, Bates finished 8th in a brutal conference and won two playoff games, proving a controversial arborist apprenticeship program successful.
Asked about an incident where Ronnie Parrott felled a tree onto the Fort Branch Confederate Museum in North Carolina, destroying it completely, Coach Downsey said only "Legally, we were in the right."
Jan 05 2045: Who? - by bobcats50 on May 2nd, 2025
At their first press conference in over 10 seasons the Bates coach was asked about aggressive comments from the NC State staff.
"Whosa Whatsa State? Oh good for them, I'm happy for those kids. I heard they don't teach history down there so I'm sure they won't mind if we just put that one down as a W anyway."
Mar 12 2033: Cinderella Season Over - Lockwood Gives His All - by bobcats50 on July 20th, 2023
It started rough! Bates started 6-14 under a bot coach, at the bottom of the pack.
Mr Bobcat took the reins, hired a new HC, and the team went 12-6 under his tutelage, finishing just outside promotion, and winning two conference playoff games before falling in a close game to Wheaton. In the Wheaton game, Lockwood gave it his all in what would end up being the last game he played that mattered - he ended up with a 10 day injury due to his efforts, but finished his Bates career putting up 30 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks, with 7 fouls drawn.
Overall, possibly a disappointing team end for Lockwood, who most likely secured All-Conference honors, and will end his college basketball career securing the #2 All-Time Conference season total for Rebounds at 394 (he is also 14th All-Time Conference for career rebounds with 1023)
while putting up 63 blocks in conference games, which ties for the 2nd most All-Time Conference.
For Bates, Lockwood will retire #4 All-Time for career Rebounds (1413) and #1 all-time for rebounds in a single season (576) along with the #1 All-time school mark for single season blocks (88) and 6th all-time school mark for career blocks (203) - his 30 Player of The Game awards also tie him for 2nd in school history.
Feb 24 2033: LIKE A PHOENIX - by bobcats50 on July 14th, 2023
LIKE A PHOENIX THE BOBCATS RISE. Who can stop us? And by us, I mean Lockwood?
Bates started 5-13 under a bot president. We have gone 12-7 since, and won 7 of the last 10. If we win our last 3, we may just make promotion.
Unrelated, accusations that we put laxatives in the snack-shack offerings to visiting teams and fans are untruthful and hurtful.
