Nov 14 2046: Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets Ready for Conference Play After Dominant Non-Conference Run - by noahsmith20 on August 9th, 2025

November 17, 2046 – Ashland, VA

The Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets closed out non-conference play with an impressive 9-1 record, positioning themselves atop the 2046–47 conference standings heading into league action on November 22nd. Coach Terrell Tillman’s squad showcased elite efficiency on both ends of the floor, outscoring opponents by nearly +20 points per game and holding them to just 70.5 points per contest.

Randolph-Macon’s offensive attack has been balanced but powered by standout performances from Benny Sumner, who leads the team with 19.4 points per game on a blistering 61.6% shooting, while dominating the glass with 12.5 rebounds per game. Bennie Cody has provided scoring punch at 14.9 points per game, attacking the rim and creating fast-break opportunities. Jimmy Ott rounds out the top scoring trio with 14.3 points per game, connecting on 52.4% from deep.

The Jackets have been equally stingy on defense, allowing opponents just 40.7% shooting from the field and forcing tough possessions inside. Their work on the boards has been decisive, with a +9 rebound margin, led by Sumner’s inside presence and the gritty rebounding of John Reinhart and Elton Rutledge.

Randolph-Macon’s lone blemish came in a tightly contested battle on the road, but the Yellow Jackets rebounded quickly, entering conference play on a one-game win streak and owning a 9-1 mark over their last 10 contests.

With conference play tipping off in five days, the Yellow Jackets look to maintain their momentum and make a statement as the team to beat. They’ll open their league schedule hungry to prove that their non-conference dominance was just the beginning.

“We’ve built a strong foundation,” said Coach Tillman. “Now it’s about carrying that intensity and execution into every single conference game. The real test starts now.”
