Roanoke Changes Coaches -
by Slickandjake2 on June 3rd, 2021
It was announced today long-time Roanoke Maroons coach Dave Pearson was let go in favor of assistant coach Matthew Cormier. Pearson coached the Maroons for 8 seasons, leading the team from LL6 to LL4. "Pearson was a great coach for Roanoke," stated new President Slickandjake2, "but the development of players has really slowed. Cormier knows the players, has been great in developing them, and has shown great success recruiting too. We just felt with new management we also want new coaching for a fresh start."
The 34-year old Cormier took his first coaching job with Roanoke which started 4 years ago. The new management has been talking about him being the heir apparent for the head coaching job, and they pulled the trigger early in the offseason. "I want to get a good start on recruiting, and I want to keep this team in LL4 next season. I like the team that returns, but will really need to get some good talent to replace our upperclassmen to be able to stay in LL4." said Cormier to finish the press conference.
