Oct 21 2048: Gallo let go amid rising tensions after Pilgrims fall to 0-2 - by thebeef16 on November 21st, 2025

The NEC Pilgrims fell to 0-2 after a 75-58 loss to the Rochester Institute of Technology, marking the end of a 2 year period with Gallo as the coach. President thebeef16 said the move was "the right decision" after an alleged fight between Star Small Forward Wally Redmond and Gallo broke out in the locker room following the loss. This is thought to be a choice of players over coaching, as without Wally Redmond, the Pilgrims would be in deep trouble. The Pilgrims will travel to take on Saint Anslem in their next game.

Oct 21 2048: Redmond Shines but Pilgrims Fall - by thebeef16 on November 20th, 2025

The NEC Pilgrims took their first loss in the season opener, falling 77-73 in a tightly contested game against Louisiana-Lafayette. Willy Redmond scored 31 points on 7-11 from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough to secure the upset victory. NEC starting Center Colton Grove was injured, and his timetable return is unclear.
Pilgrim Head Coach Roger Gallo on the season opener:
"Our guys played tough, no doubt. We have some things to work on, but I believe that that game was a big stepping stone in skill and development. While we took the loss to a great team, kudos to them, we will bounce back quickly. I think Will (Redmond) has taken the next step into becoming one of the best players in the nation. Go Pilgrims, see you all tomorrow."
Willy Redmond won player of the game, and the Pilgrims will travel to Rochester, NY to take on the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Oct 17 2048: Season Begins in Henniker - by thebeef16 on November 20th, 2025

The regular season tips off today, as the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns travel to Henniker, New Hampshire.
Coming off of a 3-0 preseason, third year New England College Head Coach Roger Gallo said this about the game:
"Should be an exciting one, Louisiana is a well coached and very tough Division 1 program, so we're going to need to come out swinging. I have faith in our Veteran Leadership along with our Freshman talent and our teams defense, and I believe that I've given us the best shot to win."
Louisiana-Lafayette is coming off a 3-0 preseason, with two being absolute blowouts, and another a 12 point win.
In a pregame interview, Louisiana-Lafayette's president Bigdro was asked for his keys to the game and how they could win.
"We look forward to opening our season against the NEC Pilgrims. Our priority is to establish our standard from the opening whistle: tempo, physicality, and precision. If we execute at the level we expect of ourselves, the result will take care of itself"
Fans that travel to Bridges Gymnasium hope to see their Pilgrims pull off that Out-of-division upset, when the Ragin' Cajuns take on the Pilgrims at 12pm ET today in Henniker.

Oct 15 2048: NEC Finishes Preseason Strong - by thebeef16 on November 19th, 2025

After starting Power Forward Jeff Teague went down with an injury in our Second preseason game, a 89-52 Exhibition Win over Salem State, we were thin at Power Forward. So going into our third game, we needed a spark. True Freshman Peter Nash stepped up big time, going for 16 points on 7-9 shooting (2-2 3pt) off the bench. Colby Kyle erupted for 25 points, earning player of the game, and we prevailed in a High Scoring game against Connecticut College, 101-86. I am proud of our team and our coaches for finishing the Preseason 3-0, but the real tests await. The season tips off tomorrow at 9am CT against Louisiana-Lafayette, a very well coached and talented program. Me and the coaches are going to do our best to match up tactically and use the best rotations so we can have the best chance at victory. I have faith in our coaches and players, as the new era of Pilgrim Basketball will officially begin. Go Pilgrims.

Oct 15 2048: New Beginning for NEC - by thebeef16 on November 18th, 2025

After being hired as the President of NEC, I am certain that defense will be key for success. While other teams may prioritize shooting and offense, I truly believe defense wins championships, and I am very pleased with how our guys have played in our first 2 exhibition games. Though we may not have the talent to beat the top teams of D3, I do believe our defense will lead us to a great year and we can be one of the top teams in the conference. We have some great Freshman, along with senior leadership to make up for the assets we lack. Go Pilgrims.
